Meet The Kittens! Simon, Chrissy, Bacon Bits, Daisy, and Mr. Snuggles will be the purrfect addition to your next quilt.

This pattern by Elizabeth Hartman includes instructions for making two versions of a 66″ x 66″ cat quilt, each featuring 8″ x 10″ cat blocks. The Sampler Cats version includes 5 unique cat blocks and is perfect for using solids and monochromatic prints (and for duplicating the faces of your feline friends). The Plain Cats version is ideal for using large-scale and multicolor print fabrics.

The Kittens quilts are made using conventional piecing methods. No paper piecing or templates are used. You will just need your favorite fabric marking tool. A complete list of the pieces needed for each block is also included, so it’s easy to use scraps and/or make blocks to use in other projects.

Materials for Cat Sampler
12 colorful fat quarters (18” x 21” each) or assorted scraps.
3/4 yard light solid fabric for face details
1/4 yard dark solid fabric for eyes and noses
3 yards mid-tone solid background fabric
4-1/4 yards backing fabric
5/8 yard binding fabric
70” x 70” batting

Materials for Plain Cats
30 colorful fat eigths (9” x 21” each) for cat faces
3 yards background fabric
4-1/4 yards backing fabric
5/8 yard binding fabric
70” x 70” batting

Yardages are based on fabric at least 42″ wide.

Optional Glasses Appliqué
The Kittens includes full-size patterns for making two different styles of glasses appliqué, which can be used with either version of the quilt. For each glasses appliqué, you will need a 5” x 10 piece of fabric and a 4” x 9” piece of lightweight fusible web.
