Cutting Faux Furs

Q: Has cutting fur left a mess of tiny hairs on your floor and cuttng table, and in your nose? If so, then try this nifty tip to make fur-cutting neater.  It'll sew easier too!

A: With wrong side of fabric up, use the tip of the scissors to lift the fur's backing (usually knit), and cut as close to the backing as possible without cutting the nap of the fur.  See Photo below:
 

How to Make Costume Tails Lighter in Weight

Q:  Did you ever make a costume tail that was suffed with polyester filling and it dragged and sagged?  How do I remedy this?

A: Stuff the tail with plastic grocery bags - it will be a lot lighter and won't drag as much!
