Suzan's Helpful Hints

What should I know about interfacing when sewing silk?

The staff at Stonemountain and Daughter is wonderfully knowledgeable. Here are some tips for you from Patricia:

•The kind of interfacing you should use depends on the weight of the silk.

•For sheers, organza or a woven sheer called "Sew'n Sheer" works well.

•In general, for using fusible interfacings with silk, my favoritie is "Touch of Gold". It adds body without adding weight.

•For underlining silk, organza is a good choice.

•When using sew-in interfacing, the layers can slip easily. Try using a temporary aerosol adhesive like "Sulky Temp".
