How can I make bias tape to match the garment I am making?

Prepare a rectangle of your fabric on the straight grain. On the wrong side, mark a true bias line (line 1.) from the upper corner to the opposite side.

Measure the width of the bias from this line and draw a second line parallel to the first. Continue to measure and mark until you
have sufficient length.

With right sides together, form a tube by folding rectangle so that the lines on the lengthwise edges match. Line 1 should extend above the other lines a shown.

Pin edges and stitch, making a 1/4 inch seam. Press seam open. Start to cut on line 1 and continue to cut around the tube on the marked lines.
