 | Carrie Besso became passionate about Sashiko as an
embellishment for wearable art after taking a class with
fiber
artist Nancy Shriber five years ago. She has recently
studied with
Bess Chin, a Master Sashiko Teacher in Berkeley, which has
enriched her knowledge and understanding of this ancient
Japanese quilting technique. Sashiko, originally used for
reinforcing and repairing clothes, has evolved into
beautiful hand
quilting. Carrie's love of Sashiko has translated itself
into a
number of garments using this art form and an extensive
collection of books on Sashiko. She started sewing with 4H
at the
age of 10, and now some years later, she is incorporating
her
extensive knowledge of sewing with her Sashiko designs. |
