GIVING BACK TO OUR COMMUNITY
We're active in our community enriching others through sewing outreach.
Below are a few examples of what we do to touch lives through our resources, sewing programs, and sewing facility. Want to get involved? Have an idea for further community involvement? Contact us!

Congo Quilt Banner

Join Global Strategies for HIV Prevention and First Presbyterian Church of Berkeley in helping to sew quilts for rape survivors of Goma, Eastern Congo. A gift of a lovingly made quilt helps to comfort these women as they receive medical care and training as part of their recovery.

Stonemountain & Daughter is an official drop-off location for donated quilts. Participants will also receive a 10% discount off of regularly priced fabric, notions, and supplies used in the production of these beautiful quilts.

The Brightest Little Star Project provides blankets and quilts for babies in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at Alta Bates Summit Medical Center in Berkeley, California. Stonemountain & Daughter recently hosted an energetic and successful volunteer sewing day on March 8, 2008 where many, many little blankets were sewn for these special babies! Thanks to everyone who participated in this wonderful event!

Would you like to participate in our next Brightest Little Star sewing day? Email Us! We'll add you to our list and you'll be contacted when further events are announced.

Oakland Quilt for Peace Banner
On June 14, 2008, the Oakland Parks & Recreation Department will be unveiling its citywide “Quilt for Peace” project. The organization is hoping to have hundreds of panels made by community members, schools, local businesses and social organizations. Panels will be assembled to create a quilt honoring Peace throughout the community.

Stonemountain & Daughter is proud to support Oakland Parks & Recreation by offering participants in this event 20% off of regular price materials to be used in this project.
