Want to learn to sew? This quick class will teach you what you need to get started! You’ll learn how to thread the machine, wind the bobbin, adjust tension, change needles, and troubleshoot. You’ll sew straight lines, turns and curves. Also, you’ll learn about sewing
techniques like seam allowances, grain lines, pinning, and ironing for projects. After this class you’ll be set for any of our project based beginners classes. No Supplies needed! Lots of dates to choose from!

#50 Easy Intro to Sewing: Make a Pillow!
$30 class fee / 3 hours
Beginner Level

Come give sewing a try! This one-session class introduces you to a sewing machine and the basics of using it. Work on a pillow and learn how to use a sewing machine, measure and cut out your project. Come get excited about sewing! This class will help you figure out what features to look for in a sewing machine; different types of seams, skills such as turning, corners and, backstitching; and how to work with the bobbin. After this class jump into any of our Beginning Level (101 or 102), Easy Intro (80) and/or Apparel Open Sew Labs (204).

#80 Easy Intro to Sewing: Make a Tote Bag!
$40 class fee / 4 hours
Beginner Level

Come to class and leave with a simple tote bag! You’ll learn to use a sewing machine to create your own unique tote bag. Our beginning classes fill up very fast; if you think that you’ll want to continue, please sign up for your next class at the same time as this one so that you won’t be left out!

#102 Hip-to-sew Intro:
Make a Great Skirt with Nicole Vasbinder!
$85 class fee / 3 sessions
Beginner Level

Want to learn to sew? This fun class will teach you everything you need to get started plus you’ll make a super fashionable A-line skirt out of cotton with the Mahnee Titus Perfect Skirt pattern! You’ll learn how to thread the machine, wind the bobbin, adjust tension, change needles, and troubleshoot. You’ll also learn how to read a pattern and to understand construction techniques like seam allowances, pinning, and ironing for projects.
