#80 Easy Intro to Sewing: Make a Tote Bag!
$40 class fee / 4 hours
Beginner Level

Come to class and leave with a simple tote bag! You’ll learn to use a sewing machine to create your own unique tote bag. Our beginning classes fill up very fast; if you think that you’ll want to continue, please sign up for your next class at the same time as this one so that you won’t be left out!

Ever wanted to make your own cute handbag? Then this is the class for you! In this beginning class you’ll make a pattern and sew a handbag of your own fabulous design using your own fabric. All sorts of little tricks and secrets to making a professional-looking handbag will be covered. Make a handbag for yourself or give one away as a special gift.

Join this popular class and make a great looking tote bag that features stylish fabric on the outside and high-tech, backpack-style pack cloth on the inside. This fun bag looks chic, but is tough and strong. Use is for general purse stuff, groceries, books, a laptop, or even diapers. Cleanly finished inside and out, the bag is a great canvas print or other home decorator fabric that fits your style. Your ownDesigner TOTE patchwork or sashiko creation may work too, with the right interfacing. You’ve seen similar bags sell in area boutiques; make your own with your choice of fabric and you’ll know how to make more as gifts. This tote features bound seams, two inside pockets and a magnetic closure. Class will cover special construction techniques and tricks for working with Cordura-type fabric and other high-performance materials.
