Whether to Europe, Bali, or Stonemountain & Daughter Fabrics - we've got you covered! Make your next trip even more exciting with easy travel wear. To build a great travel wardrobe - let's start with these four helpful characteristics of great travel wear - Versatility / Lightweight / Ease / Wrinkle-Free ...
How about a travel trench? This is truly a Bay Area Staple! So versatile - it goes with just about anything - you want seperates that can do double duty - combining well or multitasking for different types of occasions.
Colette Lady Grey #1010
This Colette pattern is a short trench style. The Pattern is "advanced" but the pattern instructions are very clear with a picture for each step. We would rate it as intermediate. The pattern is in a unique book form layout so it is very easy to come on in the store and look the steps over ahead of time! There is even a glossery of terms in the back...
Colette patterns have some real fans in our store - we have some customers that collect every one of them as they come out!
For an elegant look, pair your mini trench with slim pants. Colettte's slim pants are so beautifully simple that they go with practically anything!
These pants close with a side zipper and come in ankle length and midcalf. A midweight woven fabric with some stretch is ideal; such as a cotton twill, poplin, suiting, gabardine, pique or wool blend all with some stretch.
Which brings us to Ease - its not called "easy travel wear" for nothing - comfort and easy wash, easy care. The next items should create ease for you as well! Twills such as gabardine are great because they shed and don't show dirt.
These stretch cottons are just right!
And Wrinkle free! Use these wrinkle free twills and satin weaves with a tiny bit of stretch instead of plain weave fabrics which wrinkle more.
TIP Do the scrunch test - scrunch your fabric in your hand and see if it bounces back - a tiny bit of lycra or spandex gives the fabric memory and keeps it wrinkle free.
Leggings are a natural travel staple and a casual alternative to slim pants - Lightweight - easy to pack and carry, they are easy to combine with many outfits - great under skirts or worn as pants.
Tip: To sew knits use your ballpoint needle. Try neutral colors that combine well with alot of other colors - certain mauves, roses, and blues and the staples like black and white and grey will work well depending on your wardrobe.
